At Dignus Group, the voices of the people we support are at the heart of everything we do. As part of our continued commitment to true co-production, we are proud to have launched our first ever Co-Production Forum – bringing together people from across our services to share ideas, experiences, and help shape the future of Dignus Group.
Choosing Our Spokespeople
To ensure that every person we support has a voice, each service was invited to nominate a spokesperson to represent their home. Once nominations were received, our new representatives were sent special save-the-date invitations for the first forum.
Ahead of the event, an informal meet-and-greet day was arranged to help everyone get to know each other. Managers worked closely with each spokesperson to identify team members who could offer support and help them feel confident and prepared to take part.
Building Excitement
There was a real sense of excitement in the build-up to the forum – our spokespeople were counting down the days and eager to begin their new roles.
On Thursday, 25th September, the group visited Central Support, accompanied by their chosen team members. They enjoyed a tour of the building, met with colleagues from across departments, and learned more about how we all work together to make a difference in the lives of the people we support.
When asked what they hoped to gain from the day, the responses reflected a shared purpose:
“To make new friends.”
“To work together to shape Dignus and the future.”
(And, of course, to win at bowling!)
Exploring Central Support
Using the boardroom as their base, the group explored different spaces that could host future meetings. The boardroom was a clear favourite – bright, welcoming, and with a quiet outdoor area where anyone can take a moment if they need to.
The visit offered a valuable opportunity for everyone to see where Central Support teams work and to understand how their input will help shape both our homes and the wider Dignus community.
Bowling, Laughter and Team Spirit
After the tour, the group enjoyed a relaxed lunch in the sunshine before heading to the bowling alley for some friendly competition. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, encouragement, and team spirit – a wonderful way for everyone to bond and continue building new friendships.
Before returning to Central Support, there was time for a quick stop by the canal for some group photos – capturing a memorable day of fun and connection.
Choosing a Name and Planning the Future
Back at Central Support, the spokespeople began planning the group’s identity and future meetings. Several creative names were suggested, including:
- Dignus Dragons
- Dignus Dragon Fires
- Dignus Diamonds
- Dynamic Dignus Dynamites
- Dignus Diversity Group
After some lively discussion and a final vote, the group proudly chose their name: Dignus Diversity Diamonds
The group also agreed to meet bi-monthly and shortlisted candidates for the role of co-chair, with a final vote to take place at an upcoming session.
Looking Ahead
Our first Co-Production Forum was a resounding success – a day filled with energy, ideas, and genuine collaboration. We are incredibly proud of our new spokespeople and excited to continue this journey together.
At Dignus Group, we firmly believe that the people we support are the experts in their own experiences. Their insights and perspectives are vital in helping us shape the homes, services, and future of our organisation.
Here’s to the Dignus Diversity Diamonds – and to the bright, inclusive future they’re helping us build.
