At Dignus Group, safeguarding the information of the people we support, our partners, and our teams is of the highest importance. Following several months of preparation and testing, we are proud to have achieved Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation – the highest level of certification within the UK Government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme.
This milestone demonstrates the strength of our cyber defences and our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data protection and digital security across the organisation.
The Process: Strengthening Our Cyber Defence
Achieving Cyber Essentials Plus was a detailed and rigorous process that required the Dignus IT and Systems team to review, assess, and enhance every aspect of our infrastructure.
“We began by reviewing our existing systems and security controls against the Cyber Essentials Plus requirements,” explains Rich Tomlinson, Director of IT and Systems. “This helped us identify areas that needed improvement and set the groundwork for the rest of the process.”
The team ensured that all devices were fully patched, securely configured, and protected by up-to-date antivirus and firewall solutions. Access controls were also reviewed to confirm that only authorised users could reach sensitive systems and information.
“One of the main challenges we faced was securing time from colleagues across departments,” adds Rich. “Everyone has their own responsibilities, and coordinating availability for interviews, system access, and testing was sometimes difficult. However, the commitment shown by our wider team was great. Their cooperation was vital to the success of the audit.”
The Significance: Protecting People, Data, and Trust
Cyber Essentials Plus goes far beyond basic certification. It involves a hands-on technical audit by independent assessors, verifying that an organisation’s systems meet strict security standards.
“This achievement demonstrates to our clients, partners, and stakeholders that we take cyber security seriously and have robust measures in place to protect our data and systems from cyber threats,” says Rich.
For Dignus Group, the accreditation reflects more than compliance – it’s a commitment to safety and trust. It reinforces our promise to the people we support, ensuring that their personal information is handled with the utmost care and protected by best-in-class cyber defences.
The Team Behind the Success
This success was made possible by the dedication of the IT team and the collaboration of colleagues across the organisation.
“Over the past few months, the team has worked tirelessly to prepare every aspect of our infrastructure for the assessment – from endpoint protection and patch management to firewall configurations and user access controls,” Rich explains.
Their commitment ensured that Dignus met the expectations of the Cyber Essentials Plus framework.
Looking Ahead: Continuing Our Commitment to Cyber Excellence
Earning Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation is a proud moment for Dignus Group – but it’s also part of an ongoing journey.
“Achieving this certification strengthens our reputation as a trusted and secure organisation,” says Rich. “It reassures our clients that we operate with integrity and professionalism.”
With this certification in place, Dignus Group continues to lead with confidence, ensuring our digital infrastructure remains resilient, secure, and capable of supporting the people who depend on us every day.
