The Challenge

As Dignus Group continues to grow, so does the responsibility to support the health and wellbeing of its people. Like many UK businesses, we recognised increasing pressure on NHS services and the impact that long waiting times can have on team members – both personally and professionally.

The challenge was clear: How could Dignus Group introduce a meaningful healthcare benefit that supported every team member – without creating a twotier system or unsustainable costs?

The Approach

Dignus Group introduced Benenden Health for Business as a companywide benefit, giving all eligible team members access to affordable private healthcare support from day one.

Unlike traditional private medical insurance, Benenden Health operates on a mutual, notforprofit model, offering the same monthly cost for every team member, regardless of age or medical history. This aligned strongly with Dignus Group’s values of fairness, inclusivity and longterm people investment.

At £15.50 per employee, per month, the benefit provides a broad range of services designed to complement the NHS rather than replace it – supporting team members to access help sooner, stay well, and return to work faster when health issues arise.

What Was Introduced

All Dignus Group team members now have access to:

  • 24/7 GP Helpline with telephone and video consultations
  • 24/7 Mental Health Helpline for immediate emotional support
  • Mental Health Support, including shortterm structured counselling
  • Physiotherapy, delivered virtually or facetoface where appropriate
  • Private Medical Diagnostics, with support for costs up to £2,500 (subject to authorisation and NHS waiting times)
  • Surgical Treatment for approved procedures
  • Cancer Support, including access to a dedicated specialist nurse
  • Care Planning and Social Care Advice, including neurodiversity and disability guidance
  • The Benenden Health App, giving employees onthego access to services, wellbeing resources and rewards

All services are accessed through one simple monthly fee, with no excesses to pay and no increase in cost based on usage.

Implementation

The rollout was designed to be straightforward and inclusive:

  • All employees received personalised membership information
  • Access to the Benenden Health App enabled immediate engagement
  • Clear internal communications helped employees understand what was available and how to use it
  • Ongoing support materials ensure the benefit remains visible, not forgotten

This approach helped ensure the benefit was not just “offered”, but genuinely used and valued by the team.

The Impact

Since introducing Benenden Health, Dignus Group has strengthened its wellbeing offering in several key ways:

  • Greater peace of mind for employees, knowing support is available when they need it
  • Faster access to care, helping reduce the stress and disruption caused by long waiting times
  • Inclusive benefits, ensuring healthcare support isn’t limited to senior roles
  • Improved engagement, with employees actively using digital wellbeing tools and support services

By investing in healthcare that supports both physical and mental wellbeing, Dignus Group has reinforced its commitment to creating a supportive, peoplefirst workplace.

Why It Works for Dignus Group

Benenden Health was chosen not just for its affordability, but because it reflects how Dignus Group views employee benefits – as a standard of employment, not a perk for the few.

The model supports longterm wellbeing, helps team members stay healthy and productive, and contributes to a positive culture where people feel genuinely looked after.
